2015 a year the cell phone boosters, really make a difference?

The cell phone boosters are seeing a renewed focus and appears to have gained the critical mass that any new solution gets introduced in the market. There are a few good reason for this attention that the cell phone boosters have garnered in the recent months. FCC getting involved and approving a select few manufacturers to sell these products in the United States. When a few unapproved badly designed cell phone amplifiers were installed they supposedly sent the cell phone towers out of whack and the cell phone carriers did not like it. Initially they tried to completely get rid of this solution all together which was in direct competition to their own poorly conceived solutions such as the AT&T’s Microcell, this solution worked only with the help of internet and boosted cell phone signal with the help of WiFi signal, but with one problem thought. The cell phone signal and WiFi signal operates on 2 separate frequency bandwidths by design. The reason for that is so the cellular devices and WiFi devices can operate in harmony with in the same building and not interfere with each other. However, a cell phone communicates with cell phone tower using a series of complex communication protocol for security and to accommodate such high volume of users at the same time. The Microcell technology is not enough to account for all the complex communication protocols and have a high instance of dropping calls both when receiving and making calls.

The FCC went against the initial request from the cell phone networks to altogether ban cell phone boosters, but at the same time recognized that this solution needs to be regulated. In March of 2015 the FCC approved a select few manufacturers like Weboost, Surecall, Cel-Fi, and approved their cell phone boosters for sale in United States and also created a database to log all the users of these devices. The database is maintained at the request of network manufacturers so they can refer to it when they have issues of overloading at a particular cell tower and if they have to reach out to the cell phone booster users. With these reforms the industry has become more mature with the solution it offers and the need to solve poor signal problem anywhere. One can argue that the cell phone connectivity is an intrinsic part of our lives just like internet. Internet is an utility and so is cell phone signal in case of emergency and in many parts of the country is the only device that comes handy. Before the cell phone signal booster, the consumer was at the mercy of the cell phone provider to install tower or increase the signal strength of a particular tower. If you complained enough, they gave you a solution that never really fixed your problem. With these cell phone signal boosters, the consumer is finally empowered and can take matter into ones own hand and find a solution, speaks to the do-it-yourself nature of the American soul. 2015 is the year that looks like the year all these above stated facts come together and struck a cord.
